Technology support for UH Student Housing and Residential Life

Residents of Student Housing & Residential Life have access to a range of technology services and support. Use the options below to get connected and get help.

UHSecure Wi-Fi in the Residence Halls

UIT recommends connecting to the UHSecure wireless network for a secure, encrypted connection throughout the residence halls and campus. Avoid open or unsecured networks when possible. Visitors without a CougarNet account can connect to the UHGuest network.

Connect Gaming Consoles, Smart TVs & Similar Devices (uhregistered)

Gaming consoles, smart TVs, Roku devices, and similar equipment that cannot connect to UHSecure should use the uhregistered network. To connect:

  1. Register your device’s MAC address at Register My WiFi Device (also available in AccessUH).
  2. Because uhregistered is a hidden network, manually add it on your device by typing the name uhregistered (all lowercase).

Improve Cell Coverage in the Residence Halls

You can get better cell coverage on campus by enabling Wi-Fi calling on your phone. Most major carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) support this feature. It uses the UH Wi-Fi network to improve call quality in buildings where cellular signals are weak.
