Current Graduate Students
Lindsay J. Browne
Background:
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Antioch College.
Research Interests:
My research focuses on interactions of stigma, identity, and close relationships.
As an undergraduate student, I focused on applying attachment theory to consensually
non-monogamous relationships. In graduate school, I’ve continued work on understanding
relationship functioning in non-monogamous relationships. I’ve also broadened my research
to understanding sexual minority identities as well as how stigma affects the well-being
of those with stigmatized identities.
Personal Information:
I grew up in southwestern Ohio. In my free time I like to make costumes for the renaissance
festival and play board games.
Anjelica Martinez
Background:
I received my BA in Psychology with a specialization in Experimental Psychology and
a minor in Sociology from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2018. I also received
my MS in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2020.
Research Interests:
My undergraduate experience is widely varied between studying individual differences
in female Asian Elephants and assessing sexual health disparities in heterosexual
and LGBTQ+ individuals. I found a love for research in online behavior as a graduate
student researching the impact of audience diversity on distinctiveness, belongingness,
and felt authenticity across multiple social media platforms. My research foci now
concern satisfaction of motivated identity needs, including self-determination theory
(SDT), within the emerging and ever-changing social media context. I seek not only
to answer how we form and maintain relationships within these diverse contexts, but
also the social cognitive repercussions of its use. My other interests generally include
identity enactment, impression management, self-stigma, and well-being outcomes both
in person and online.
Personal Information:
I was born in El Paso, Texas, but grew up in California, the Chicagolands, and Florida.
I enjoy traveling and discovering new restaurants to try. When I am not hanging out
with my dog, you can find me indoor gardening, embroidering, or practicing yoga.
