Campus Parking on Game Day

Check this page regularly to help you adjust your plans and make game days run as smoothly as possible. If you are a Cougar football fan who is looking for information on where to park on game day, please consult the football fan guide and the game day parking map. Football fans wanting to buy game day parking in advance can do so here.

Aug. 28 (Thursday), 7 p.m., vs. Stephen F. Austin
Sept. 12 (Friday), 6:30 p.m., vs. Colorado
Oct. 4 (Saturday), TBD, vs. Texas Tech
Oct. 18 (Saturday), TBD, vs. Arizona
Nov. 1 (Saturday), TBD, vs. West Virginia
Nov. 22 (Saturday), TBD, vs. TCU

The first Cougar football home game of the season at TDECU Stadium takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28.  Please make sure you understand where you can and cannot park if coming to campus that day, as streets, parking lots and garages will be impacted:

ZONE A

  • Lot 16D will transition to reserved donor parking for game day beginning at 3 p.m.
  • After this time, valid UH permit holders will no longer be permitted to enter Lot 16D.
  • To avoid the football game day traffic, permit holders are strongly encouraged to move their vehicles out of 16D before 3 p.m.
  • All other Zone A lots will convert to pay-by-phone game day parking starting at 3 p.m.
  • After these lots convert to pay-by-phone parking, valid UH parking permit holders may still park in them without having to pay the game day fee.

ZONE B

  • Zone B permit holders may enter Zone B with their vehicle until 3 p.m.
  • After 3 p.m., entry to Zone B will not be permitted for permit holders.
  • To avoid the football game day traffic, permit holders are strongly encouraged to move their vehicles out of Zone B before 3 p.m.

ZONES C & D

  • Permit holders for Zones C and D will have normal access to their lots throughout the day.
  • Beginning at 3 p.m., many lots in these zones will be used for game day pay-by-phone parking.
  • After these lots convert to pay-by-phone parking, valid UH parking permit holders may still park in them without having to pay the game day fee.

ZONE E

  • Zone E will convert to reserved donor parking for game day at 3 p.m.
  • After 3 p.m., valid UH parking permit holders may still enter the Zone E lots, but they must present the QR code from their digital Cougar Card via the UH Go app to the parking attendant.

ZONE F

  • All vehicles in Zone F (Lots 12A and 15C) must be moved out by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
  • Vehicles left in these lots after midnight will be ticketed and towed to the Elgin Street Garage.
  • Valid UH parking permit holders will not be allowed to park in Zone F at any time on Thursday, Aug. 28.

PARKING GARAGES

  • The visitor parking section of the Stadium Garage will close to visitors at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
  • The Stadium Garage will convert to football game day parking at 3 p.m. Thursday.
  • No permit holders -- including Stadium Premium -- will be allowed entry into the Stadium Garage after 3 p.m.
  • The Elgin Street Garage will convert to game day paid parking at 3 p.m. Permit holders for this garage will not be allowed to enter once the conversion takes place.
  • The East Garage and University Gateway Garage will be available all day as alternative parking locations for displaced permit holders.
  • Physical or digital Cougar Card, or registered toll tag, will be needed for entry.
  • The two Welcome Center Garages will not be used for game day parking. Welcome Center Garage permit holders may continue to park in them as usual.

WHERE PERMIT HOLDERS CAN PARK THURSDAY, AUG. 28

  • If you have a valid UH parking permit for a parking garage or zone that is not being used for game day parking, you should park in your normal location.

If you have a valid UH parking permit that is being impacted by game day parking, you may park in the following areas and not have to pay any game day fees:

Any time on Thursday

  • Zone E
  • East Garage
  • University Gateway Garage

After 3 p.m.

  • Any $30 pay-by-phone football parking lot marked in teal on the game day football map
  • Important: Do not park in teal lots that charge $50. Valid UH permits are only valid in the $30 pay-by-phone lots.

To access the East Garage and University Gateway Garage, you must either:

  • Tap your physical Cougar Card
  • Scan the QR code from your digital Cougar Card in the UH Go app
  • Use a registered toll tag

CULLEN BOULEVARD TO CLOSE

  • Cullen Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic between Holman Street and Cougar Place Boulevard starting at 2 p.m.

LIMITED SHUTTLE SERVICE

  • The Cougar Line North Route will stop running at 1 p.m. Thursday.
  • The Cougar Line PGH/Zone E Route will stop running at 1 p.m.
  • The Cougar Line Student Center/Zone D Route will operate on its normal schedule.
  • The Cougar Line Sugar Land Route will operate on its normal schedule.
  • There will be no Cougar Ride service.

 

The next Cougar football home game of the season at TDECU Stadium takes place at 6 p.

xxxddm. Saturday, Nov. 23. Streets, parking lots and garages will be directly impacted: 

ZONE F

  • All vehicles in lots 12A and 15C must be moved out by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. Vehicles left in these lots after midnight will be ticketed and towed to the Elgin Street Garage.
  • Valid UH parking permit holders will not be able to park in Zone F, including lot 15C adjacent to the Fertitta Center, all day on Nov. 23. Zone F will reopen on Sunday, Nov. 24.

STADIUM GARAGE

  • All three entrances to the Stadium Garage will close at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.
  • Stadium Garage permit holders will not be able to enter the garage with their vehicle all day Nov. 23.
  • Stadium Garage permit holders will be able to return to the garage on Sunday, Nov. 24.

ZONES A, B, E

  • Zone E lots will be closed Saturday, Nov. 23.
  • Zone A and Zone B lots 16B and 16D, as well as the 16C visitor lot will also be closed.
  • Permit holders will NOT be allowed to enter any of these lots after 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and all day Saturday, Nov. 23. We ask that vehicles be moved out of these lots before they close, but it is not mandatory.

UNIVERSITY GATEWAY, ELGIN STREET GARAGES

  • The University Gateway Garage and the Elgin Street Garage will both be used for game day parking starting at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.
  • Permit-holders for these garages will NOT be allowed to enter once they convert to game-day parking.
  • East-Gateway Garages permit-holders will still be able to park in the East Garage. Elgin Street Garage permit-holders (and most other valid permit-holders) also will be allowed to park in the East Garage.

GATED LOT 13A

  • Gated lot 13A will be closed to permit holders at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.
  • Lot 13A permit holders will NOT be allowed to park in the lot Saturday unless they pay the game day fee.

GATED LOT 16C

  • Gated lot 16C will be blocked off at approximately 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.
  • Lot 16C permit holders will NOT be allowed to enter the lot after it is blocked off.

WHERE PERMIT HOLDERS CAN PARK ON GAME DAY

All valid UH parking permit holders (except for Katy permits and MWF and TTh permits) can park in the following locations without having to pay a game day fee:

  • The ungated/uncovered zone parking lots in Zones A, C and D that are not being used for game day donor parking. These lots will have numerous temporary signage set up stating that the lot is being used for $30 text-to-pay game day parking. Valid permit holders do not have to pay the fee if they park in these lots as long as their vehicle is associated with their permit.
  • Permit-holders should NOT park in any restricted space. These include reserved, 20-minute unloading, disabled and the orange text-to-pay visitor spaces. If you park in an orange text-to-pay space without paying, you will receive a citation. Please note: All of the spaces in visitor lot 21C are orange text-to-pay spaces. DO NOT PARK IN THIS LOT.
  • Valid permit-holders can also park in the student/faculty/staff section of the East Garage (You will need to swipe your physical Cougar Card, scan the QR Code generated by your digital Cougar Card, or use a registered toll tag for entry).
  • If you park in the East Garage and your permit is for another location, your vehicle must be moved out no later than 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25.

CULLEN BOULEVARD TO CLOSE

  • Cullen Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic between Holman Street and Cougar Place Boulevard at approximately 11 a.m. (seven hours prior to kickoff).
