Sharmagne Taylor CMP ('86)

President & CEO
On-Site Partners, Inc.

A native of Orange, Texas, Sharmagne Taylor, CMP (’86) first glimpsed the hospitality industry through a broad lens. Her single mother, Lois, was fortunate to have been afforded a college education and advanced professional degree, moving Taylor and her sister, Alonna-Chell, to Cincinnati, Ohio, in the early 1970s, for a better life.

When Alonna-Chell went off to college, Taylor traveled on business trips and moved to seven different cities with her mom, experiencing historic hotels, like the Muehlebach, in Kansas City, and sampling fine cuisine in their restaurants. In those days, the housekeepers did double duty as babysitters, so Taylor would tour the suites and facilities as they went about their daily chores. Her interest in hospitality was reignited in 1982, when she read an article in Black Enterprise Magazine about careers in the industry. Her mom had recently been transferred to Houston and Taylor, contemplating her next move, decided to check out Hilton College. It was there she found her calling.

Taylor is now president and chief executive officer of On-Site Partners, Inc. Established in 1998, On-Site Partners, Inc. is a full-service meeting consulting firm, providing technology solutions for attendees in housing and event-logistics management. Their large meetings and events are hosted by professionals, trade associations, corporations and community organizations. Prior to starting her own firm, Taylor worked for 15 years in hotel operations, sales and convention services, primarily for Hyatt and Hilton.

She is a 1986 graduate of Hilton College, where she currently serves as chair of the Eric Hilton Distinguished Alumni Club and the Dean’s Advisory Board. She is also a 2018 recipient of Hilton College Distinguished Alumni award and the 2020 Distinguished Service award from the University of Alumni Association.

Taylor is passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation of hospitality students and breaking down barriers to success for fledgling entrepreneurs – particularly her “baby Coogs” enrolled at or alumni of the University of Houston. Taylor and her late husband, Charles, were married for nearly 40 years and have two adult children—Rev. Evan and Barry and the sweetest grandson, Carter.
