Middle Eastern Studies
The Middle Eastern Studies Program at the Department of Modern and Classical Languages (MCL) offers courses on Arabic language and literature, as well as the Islamic heritage and modern landscape of the greater Middle East. The program offers three years of Arabic language instruction (Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced), and several content courses taught in English. Our program offers or advises three degrees:
- Arab Studies Minor
- World Cultures & Literature Major — Middle Eastern Studies Concentration
- World Cultures & Literature Minor — Middle Eastern Studies Concentration
Our program also facilitates Arabic language study through:
- Arabic Study Abroad
- Arabic Credit by Examination
Scholarships
Each year, the Middle Eastern Studies Program awards multiple scholarships to recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding skill in Arabic language, as well as exemplary knowledge of, and continued interest in, the Middle East and its heritage.
Study Abroad
The Middle Eastern Studies Program offers students two types of learning abroad experiences, Faculty Led Programs and Affiliated Programs.
