    Dr. Chakrabarti represented the Department of History at the University of Houston's fourth 50-in-5 celebration, held at the Wortham House on February 29, 2024, in recognition of faculty achievements, including major publications.

    Congratulations to Associate Professor Leandra Zarnow who was recently awarded an NEH Award for Faculty in the Hispanic Serving Institutions category and a Mellon Fellowship from the American Philosophical Society’s Library & Museum to support research for her next book!

Our department is home to over 30 faculty dedicated to researching and teaching all areas of history. We offer a robust undergraduate program in addition to the MA in History, MA in Public History, and PhD in History.
