On Thursday, April 6th, the Center for Public History held an event to honor the previous CPH Director and expert historian, Dr. Martin Melosi, "Dr. Martin Melosi: A Public History Retrospective and Celebration" from 2-6pm at the O'Quinn Great Hall, Alumni Center at the University of Houston. 

The event consisted of afternoon roundtables of public historians and educators as they reflected on the influence, impact, and inspiration of Dr. Martin Melosi's career at the University of Houston. 

Roundtable 1: Training Historians for Public Careers

Roundtable 2: Training Public Scholars for the Academy

Moderator: Dr. Kathleen Brosnan, Paul and Doris Eaton Travis Chair of Modern American History, University of Oklahoma             

Dr. Elizabeth Blum, Professor of History and Associate Chair of the Division of History and Philosophy, Troy University

Dr. Charles Closmann, Associate Professor of History, University of North Florida

Dr. Joseph Stromberg, Professor of History, San Jacinto College

Afterwards, the event commenced with a discussion, closing remarks, and a reception in the Alumni Center Great Room.
