Rahil

Rahil Asgari is a PhD candidate in the History department at the University of Houston. She received her BA and MA from the University of Tehran. Rahil specializes in Global History and Public History, as well as Labor History and the History of Medicine. Currently, she is working on her dissertation, which examines the applications of social reproduction theory in the sex industry in the twentieth-century U.S. and the ensuing labor movement within the industry during the second half of the century. Rahil also works on the historical roots of the women’s movement in Iran, particularly in the Qajar era, and the implications of the formation of a feminist bloc in Iran during the Tobacco Protest and the Constitutional Revolution.
